Neil Burger discusses his take on Uncharted film adaptation

Director Neil Burger has spoken out for the first time about taking on the movie adaptation of popular video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

The director took the reins on the project when David O Russell’s approach to the film was scrapped by the studio. Now, Burger is “basically writing it from scratch”.

“We’re rewriting it,” the Limitless director says, “and I’m just jumping in right now to do it. The deal really has just closed, so it’s very, very new. I’m basically writing it from scratch.

“So, it’s a ways off, but it’s very exciting to have something that could be a franchise. I like it, and I like that it’s a bit different from a lot of the science fiction stuff that’s out there. I like that it’s a classic, great adventure.”

Zombieland 2 could still be a long way off

Zombieland was one of the coolest movies of 2009, but a sequel to the stylish chuckler could still be a fair way off.

Director Ruben Fleischer caught up with Coming Soon about the project, and revealed that “the reality of it happening is getting less and less real”.

“I can promise you it’s something we all want to do,” he says of Zombieland 2. “I think the reality of it happening is getting less and less real.

“It’s just harder and harder every day, because everybody’s gotten really busy and the reality is that we’ve never had a script that we’ve all just fallen in love with.”

Harry Potter casts his final spell over the US box office

Harry Potter went out with a bang this weekend – the boy wizard’s last ever movie outing smashed box office records as the film rolled out worldwide.

Stateside, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 earned a staggering $168m in its first weekend.

With that much cash being thrown at it, the final Harry Potter film even managed to top The Dark Knight’s opening weekend record of $158m, creating a new record for the highest ever US opening weekend. Yes, ever.

Internationally, Deathly Hallows Part 2 took a further $75m, meaning its total global earnings are actually a Gringotts-busting $250m.

See Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit

Dwarves are popping out of the woodwork all over the place at the moment. And today is no different, as another short fella from The Hobbit has been revealed online.

This time it’s Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, a fearsome leader of dwarves.

Oakenshield’s backstory is intimately tied to that of giant dragon Smaug, who destroyed the dwarf kingdom of Erebor and slaughtered many of his kin.

Continuing the shaggy-haired look of the dwaves, Armitage looks nothing short of fearsome as Oakenshield.
